Title:-Consideration of aging in relation with prakruti.

Dr. Vijay Shankar Kale submitted his dissertation in the year 1998 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya). His guide was Prof. Dr. Barde J. K. & Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune (M.S.), India.

Dr. Kale has tried to correlate aging process with constitution .In this work object was to study aging process and to help for avoidance of premature aging.

In this research work Dr. Kale has evolved 545 individuals. Their constitution were determined characteristic of old age describe in charak and volunteers were examined on the basis of these feature.

The research work was concluded as follows-

i)                          In Kapha constitution people the aging process is slow (Because the kapha properties like heavy, unctuousness, soft , oppose aging process )
ii)
iii)                     Pitta constitution people developed premature aging features like baldness, wrinkles etc. (Because pitta dosha has the properties like hot, sharp, light, which help aging process.).
iv)
v)                        Vata dosha has the properties like dry, rough, mobile, minute which resemble the aging process. But if vata dosha in associated with kapha its activities are much lowered. If vata is associated with pitta the aging process is accelerated
vi)
Apart from constitution diet, digestive fire (Agni) also play important role in the aging process.
