Peritoneum & fat – Large intestine is a site of vata , saman & apan vayu are continuously acting here for the function of digestion & elimination of waste naturally dryness & lightness these attributes of vata dosha are more marked in this region – to counter act these properties fat in the peritoneum is useful.

Concept of mool sthana is important by various angles e.g. as a manufacturing site (utpatti), transport system , storage, precautions  during surgery  etc.
