Title:-Enumeration of effects due to strenuous physical working pattern (Excessive exercise) in adults.

          Dr. Shrikant Dattatraya Kulkarni submitted his dissertation for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya).His guide was Dr. Mrs. Minakshi A. Randive & Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune (M.S.), India.

          Dr. Kulkarni has tried to see the effects of strenuous physical work in adults. For the data collection 250 people from the society were register.

These people were from the following professionals who need strenuous physical work – labours in building construction, poor farmer, coolie, professional classical dancer, instructor in gymnasium.

          Ragister people were working in the same profession for more than 6 months. They were all form the category of POA. Physical work done nonstop for more than 3 hours is defined as POA.

These people were observed for the symptoms like exertion (Shrama), Fatigue (Klama), excess thirst (Trushna).

These people were also examined to detect presence of any particular disease like T.B. (Kshaya), Bleeding disorder (Ratkapitta), Breathlessness (Pratamak), cough (Kasa), Fever (Jwara), Vomiting (Chardi) .

These symptom and disease were mentioned in charak compendium under the topic of effects of excessive exercise.

          The research work is concluded as follows-

 All the symptoms and disease mention by charak are still observed today in the society. Only the difference in the sequence of the observed features is not exactly matching
With verse mention in charak samhita. For example fever scored 78% while T.B. scored 68% followed by cough 65%, Breathlessness 62% and vomiting 55%.
         

The practicing doctor should note that fever, vomiting, bleeding disorders may have other strong reason. Besides POA (Physical over activity)

          But in the problems like  viral fever , T.B. ,Breathlessness , cough, in the old age ,Physical over activity ( beyond  one’s  capacity ) may be  very strong contributory etiological factor by lowering immune functions
