 Title : Koshta Pariksha va  Doshaprakruti sambadha ek abhyas. (Relation of Koshtha & Biotype)

          Dr. M.A. Khandare submitted her dissertation to Pune university in 1995 for the P.G. degree M.D.( Sharir Kriya ). Her guide was Dr. R. Vaze. Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune.

          This dissertation is in Marathi local language, Dr. Khandare had tried to see correlation in between constitution & Colonic sensitivity ( Koshtha ) 100 volunteers were registered for this project by interrogation, nature of the stool was noted accordingly diagnosis of koshtha ( Colonic sensitivity) was noted. This koshtha was then confirmed by administering purgative & recording its effect.

          For purgation shweta Nishottar powder 1.5 gm was given in capsulated form (3 Capsules) stat.

Research work was concluded as follow - 

I)                  75% similarity was found in predominance of dosha & constitution & in stool nature.
II)               85% Similarity was found in predominance of dosha in constitution & in koshtha.
III)            75% Similarity was found in the diagnosis of koshtha done with stool nature & with effect of purgatives.
IV)           Hence diagnosis of koshtha can be done stool nature.

a)    Vata constitution – Krura Koshtha (Hard) – Dry, Hard stool.
b)    Pitta constitution – Mrudu Koshtha (soft) – Watery, semisolid nature.
c)     Kapha constitution – Madhyam Koshtha (Moderate colonic sensitivity) – formed stool.
