Title: Quantitative estimation of the efficiency of ‘chashurendriya’ (Human Eye) with help of reaction time analyzer in ayurvedic students of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s college of Ayurved and its correlation to prakruti.

Dr. Mrs. K. Indapurkar submitted her dissertation to Pune University in 1997 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya). Her guide was Dr. J. K. Barde. Research center was Bharati Vidyapeeth’s college of Ayurved, Pune.

In this research work efficiency of eye (Chakshurendriya) in terms of reaction time required to respond to a visual stimulus was determined and then correlated with constitution.

130 volunteers were studied from the age group 18 t0 22 years.

The equipment used was Visual Response Analyzer.

For each student VRT (Visual response time) was taken with an interval of 3 mins during which period the students was asked to relax by closing the eyes. For each student the flashing of the red light was for 1oth of a seconds & delay range was anything between 3 – 30 seconds. When the student press the lever the VRT was displayed on the indicator dial in digits.

          Research concluded that –

There is definite correlation in visual reaction time (VRT) and doshik constitution e.g. vata prakruti reacts very fast.
