Title: Stri shariramadhye vayonupatini prakruticha Abhyas (Study of Age related Biotype in female).

          Dr. Manisha Govindrao Nehe submitted her dissertation to Pune University in 1997 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya). Her guide was Dr. Arun Ramchandra Shitre; Research center was Gune Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Ahamadnagar (M.S.)
         
          This Thesis is in Marathi local language.  Dr. Nehe has done observational study of 90 females from the age group of 18 -22

She noted following points and compaired them with prakruti (constitution)-
i)                   Body measurements (onthropometric study)
ii)                Study of menstrual cycle
iii)              Problem of acne    
 
After analytical study she has concluded as follows-
A)  In vata prakruti females from the age group 18 -22 yrs.-

i)                   Body measurements were 87 finger units (Textual ref. 84 finger units)
ii)                Menstrual cycles were irregular.
iii)              Distance in between 2 menstrual cycles was more.
iv)              Menstrual discharge was less ( 1 pad per day )
v)                Complaints like abdominal pain, backache, headache, indigestion during menstrual periods were notably high.
vi)              Body temperature was found to rise by 0.5% during mensis.
vii)           In 60% females, acne predominant during mensis.

B)   In pitta prakruti, females from the age group 18-22 yrs.-

i)                   Body measurements were 85 finger units ( Textual ref. is 84 finger units)
ii)                Menstrual cycles were regular.
iii)              Duration in between two menstrual cycles were regular
iv)              Heavy periods were observed ( 3 pads per day)
v)                Complaints like burning & headache were observed.
vi)              Body temperature was raised by 0.8% during mensis.
vii)           In 74% women, acne was predominant during mensis.

C)   In kapha prakruti , females from the age group 18-22 Yrs.-

i)                   Body measurements were 88 finger units (Textual ref. is 84 finger units)
ii)                Menstrual cycle were regular
iii)               Duration in between two menstrual cycles were regular
iv)              Heavy periods were observed ( 3 pads per day)
v)                Complaints like heaviness, lethargy, indigestion, white discharge before onset of mensis were observed.
vi)              Body temperature was raised by 0.3% during mensis.
vii)           In 27% women had acne before on set mensis

          In nut shell –
          This dissertation indicates that menstrual cycle pattern can be good indicator for determination of constitution.
